Into the White cover art

about

Three covers in a row; four if you count 'a reminder'

I was on a roll, bastardizing songs I loved by artists I owed much . And I definitely owed a lot to The Pixies as a teenager in the Boston suburbs right when they started and blew the minds of all who witnessed them . and seeing them do 'Into the White' as an encore was always a highlight of any Pixies show

I don't remember how LifeLike got a hold of me, but I was really excited about it and Parks was a super nice guy

I loved recording this track, in the living room at Third Hermitage Floor with John playing cello... that cello! It sounds so good

and I spent forever on the vocals... with only a four track to record on, I had to mix the track and record the vocals live while doing it . I bet there are lots of fun alternate vocal takes on a DAT somewhere in this office . at the time, I was really trying to do something very different from the 'Drekka sound' I was perfecting, and instead harken the spirit of rock that had inspired me

It only seemed right to let it rip with an Al Jourgensen-esque vocal delivery . funny, as I did some similar vocal shredding with Turn Pale only a few years later
